Trial update arrives, bringing a new melee weapon, decorative blocks and hostile mobs to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. This update also brings the Trial Chambers – a sprawling structure stuffed with traps and tricky combat challenges that you can conquer to earn special loot.
The Trial Chambers are randomly generated structures that feature traps, a variety of block types and layouts, and varying combinations of rooms. Each room is also home to a new challenge, like the Breeze, a mischievous mob whose wind attacks can send you flying! Killing a Breeze enemy will reward players with Breeze Rods, which can be used to craft the new mace.
Each trial spawner is capable of summoning a limited number of mobs to fight, with different mob counts based on the spawner type (Breeze spawners can only summon two mobs, while baby zombie spawners can only spawn three). Once all the mobs in the area are defeated, the trial spawner ejects a reward that can be found anywhere in the Trial Chamber. Some rewards include unique banner patterns, music discs, smithing templates and the new Heavy Core, which is needed to craft the mace.
In addition to the new challenges, the Trial Chambers also feature Decorated Pots that can be smashed for loot and supply chests between rooms that can contain blocks and items that help players progress through the Challenges. The Trial Update also introduces the Bogged, a new hostile mob that can spawn in the Swamp and Mangrove biomes and has a projectile attack that can knock entities back. Bogged enemies can be killed for bones and arrows, and they drop a Poison Arrow when they die.
